This report was published in May 2004 by SAHAJ (Society for Health Alternatives) as a part of the Women Centered Health Project (WCHP) in collaboration with the Public Health Department of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and the Royal Tropical Institute. It was authored by Swati Pongurlekar, Deepa Venkatesh, Renu Khanna, Anagha Pradhan, and Usha Ubale describes the achievements, challenges, and functioning of the counselling centre established by WCHP at a gynaecology clinic in a municipal hospital in Mumbai. The counselling centre was set up to improve communication between clients and healthcare providers, recognizing that communication and the client-patient relationship are key factors in rendering effective sexual and reproductive healthcare, particularly to marginalized women. The centre was evaluated by an external counsellor to develop an assessment of the quality of services it provided. The report is 121 pages long.
