Description
This pamphlet provides a practical guide to cultivating the silk cotton tree, especially the improved Ceiba pentandra variety. It explains propagation through seed, nursery preparation, transplanting techniques, spacing, and maintenance. The tree is valued for its light, fluffy cotton used in stuffing materials and has good market demand. Once mature, each tree can yield around 7 kg of clean floss and up to 700 g of seeds annually. With minimal care, it offers a supplementary source of rural income, especially for women and children. Published by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
