Description

Broadsheets and clippings of Rai's articles in the Times, Hindustan Times, the Hindu, and Grassroots magazine. It contains one profile of a modern pujari, the zamindari system, developmental lags and struggles in drought-affected regions of Chandrababu Naidu's Andhra Pradesh, and population policies against the lifting of bans on non-iodised salt. But the bulk of broadsheets and articles on environmental issues, including the Green Talk column of the Hindu, which tackles issues such as the Tehri Dam issue; the necessity for a policy governing those displaced by large infrastructure projects; land acquisition and rehabilitation; the deaths of tigers and poaching; the protection of reserves against hydroelectric projects subsequent to the denotification of part of the Great Himalayan National Park; pollution; cyclone impacts worsening by manmade interference; the restoration of forest corridors; regreening and a national forest scheme; traditional water harvesting systems; protecting elephants against ivory traders, declining bird species, and sensitisation to monkeys in urban spaces.
