Newspaper clippings of articles by Rai on issues of development and public welfare, such as starvation in drought-stricken Orissa; loss of land in Majuli and the workings of the NGO AVARD; the launch of an AIDS counselling hotline; health-care and child-care for the poor and working mothers in the unorganised sector, in tribal areas and deprecation of profit-sharing in hospitals; vehicular pollution and indoor pollution due to low-grade fuels; the mid-day meal scheme; UNDP sectoral assistance; tribal rights, justice for Dalit women survivors of sexual violence; the presumption of Naxalism in cases of dissent and the Adivasi Mukti Sanghatan (AMS); population control measures; poverty and food, water and land deficits and the need for planners to look beyond statistics; malarial drugs; and the inefficiencies of commissions.
